How many adults can a cat outsmart?

Thur 4/28

At 8am I headed over to the garage where the kittens were. As I went to stick my hand into the recycle bin I heard a hiss. Karma was in with her babies!!!! Then she sawed her face and I went to scruff her. I didn't get enough of a hold and she was off. I cant believe I had my hands on her and she got away. On the flip the babies were still safe and in the same spot. We were getting closer. We just needed a little luck on our side.

I set the live trap again with fresh canned food. Even though I had been told that once a cat is caught in a live trail they rarely get caught again, I still had hope that her hunger would get her in there.

Throughout the day myself And Kathy checked the trap for momma. No luck so I called Theresa with an idea Kathy had.

Theresa's garage has a service door into the garage and Kathy thought we could put out a trail of food into the garage. The way her home is set up we could have a string attached to the door and yank it shut from inside the house. at first Theresa thought her garage had too much stuff in it And if we got her in there we may not be able to find her. But she changed her mind and started cleaning out the garage.

We got tuna packed in oil, sardines, canned salmon, hard food and canned cat food. We had every smelly food we could think of. While Theresa rigged the door I put out the trail of food and another live trap. The. The stake started again.

We were all inside Theresa's house waiting and waiting just hoping she would show up for dinner. Finally at 7:15 here she comes. She wanted so badly to get in the live trap for the canned food but just wouldn't get all the way in. Then she saw the tuna. I don't think she ever had tuna because she grabbed a piece and ran with it. Slowly she came back and ate the trail of food into the garage. Then she went into the garage and Theresa yanked the door closed. We had her trapped in the garage. We whooped and celebrated then realized it could he really hard to catch her.

We slowly entered the garage and there was no sign of her. The 3 of use combed every inch of the garage but could not find her. I must have asked Theresa 4 times if she was sure that Karma was really in here. Then I realized there was a pot I didn't look behind. There she was crammed into a tiny a hiding. My heart was so excited. I grabbed her with Kathys help and we got her into a crate.

The we went over to the other garage to get her babies.
What a long couple of days. We were exhausted but so happy mom was safe with us and we would be able to get her medical care and eventually find homes for her and her babies

The story continues tomorrow.
