In this corner we have . . .

Friday April 29
Karma and her babies are safe and sound at my house. We came up with a plan. I would keep the group until we were sure they wouldn't spread anything to Kathy's own cats. Then Kathy will foster mom and kitties. Paws and Purrs Humane Society is going to handle the adoption process and help us find home for each one. Home Sweet Home will be provided the food and vet care and also updates to everyone.

After reading up on newborn kittens we found we needed to weigh them so that we could see how healthy the were. As we handled each one, we checked to see there wasn't any runny stuff from their eyes or nose. They had plump bellies and seemed very alert. Its too early for us to tell the sex of each baby so ignore us when we say he/she.

Our smallest kitten is the lighter brown tabby. This one weights 5 ounces. GREAT! the paperwork we have says that 4oz is normal for a week old kitten so mamma has been taking great care of them. We ca barely tell the 2 tabby's apart at this age. This one is just a bit lighter in color.

The second smallest is all gray. It looks like there could be a bit of white on the chest as she grows and could even be long haired. This on weights 5 3/4 ounces,

Third up is the white with tabby spots kitten. This one weighs in at 6 1/8 ounces. WOW! over 2 ounces bigger than the average week old kitten. This one is the "mouth" of the group. Very vocal and always saying when he's upset.

And the bruiser of the bunch is the darker brown tabby. This one came in at 6 1/4 ounces. Every time I visit the kitten this one is eating. I have a feeling he will be a big cat as he gets older.

All the kittens are good about being touched and held. They are still 100% dependent on mom so we have been giving Karma as much as she wants to eat. She is getting pretty skinny so 2 cans of food plus dry food may not be enough.

Stay tuned for more photo's and more of the story tomorrow.
